Joonas Koponen

Doctoral Student

I received the B.Sc. degree in electrical power systems from Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT), Finland, in 2013. For the M.Sc. degree, I studied embedded systems at LUT and computer science at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia, and received the degree in 2015. I got the unique opportunity to work on commissioning the LUT hydrogen laboratory setup and contribute to research that potentially has significant impact; targets have been set towards net zero-emission societies, and we are globally facing multiple energy constraints. Conversion of electricity into other forms of energy should become attractive. A key element in creating links between different energy sectors is hydrogen. My research interests include efficiency and control of water electrolysis processes from the viewpoint of power electronics.
